TOP 10 FASTEST CARS IN THE WORLD

1. HENNESSEY VENOM F5: 301 MPH

Boasting a claimed top speed of 301 mph, the Venom F5 smashes the previous top speed figure by more than a school zone speed limit. To do so, Hennessey started with an all-new, 2,950-pound carbon fiber chassis (the Venom GT is based on the Lotus Exige), and bolted a 1,600-hp, 7,4-liter, twin-turbo V8 to it. The results are absolutely astonishing, as the car can reportedly go from 0 to 249 to 0 mph in less than 30 seconds total. Hennessey has yet to confirm its top speed with the Guinness Book of World Records, so the Koenigsegg Agera RS remains the official fastest car in the world … for now.  click for more info!

2. KOENIGSEGG AGERA RS: 278 MPH

In terms of spec sheets, Hennessey’s Venom F5 is more impressive. Its claimed top speed of 301 mph obliterates everything else on this list by a significant margin, but Hennessey hasn’t verified its numbers with the Guinness Book of World Records. Koenigsegg has, so even though it gets the silver medal here, in the real world, the Agera RS is the true speed king.

To set the official record, Koenigsegg asked the Nevada Department of Transportation to close an 11-mile stretch of Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump. On public roads, the 1,160-hp Swedish supercar hit 284.55 mph during its first run and 271.19 mph during the second, which averages out to 277.9 mph. Watch the run hereclick for more info!

3. HENNESSEY VENOM GT: 270MPH

Hennessey recorded a 270.4-mph run at the Kennedy Space Center in 2014, but only in one direction. To be considered legitimate, record attempts usually require a run in each direction, and an average is taken to account for wind conditions. There’s also some debate about whether the Hennessey Venom qualifies as a production car due to its hand-built nature. Hennessey’s monster wasn’t recognized as the world’s fastest car by the Guinness Book of World Records. click for more info!

4. BUGATTI CHIRON: 261 MPH

No list is complete without a supercar from the legendary Bugatti. The Veyron was a monumental feat of engineering, a supercar whose performance was so marvelous, Top Gear presenter James May compared it to the automobile equivalent of the Concorde. After 10 years of production, the Volkswagen Group has unveiled the Veyron’s successor, the Bugatti Chiron. The Chiron is a king among supercars, which is fitting, as kings will be among the few to obtain one — only 500 were released for the first generation, and they cost a staggering $2.6 million each. click for more info!

5. BUGATTI VEYRON SUPER SPORT: 268 MPH

When Volkswagen purchased the Bugatti brand, it had one goal: build the fastest production car in the world. The original Veyron achieved that goal, and with a price tag of $1.7 million and a quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1,000 hp. The Veyron was soon dethroned by the SSC Ultimate Aero, so Bugatti came back with the Veyron Super Sport. This beat pumps out an astonishing 1200 HP, and numerous aerodynamic changes meant to help gain a few extra miles per hour.

With a top speed of 268 mph recorded at Volkswagen’s test track, the Veyron Super Sport was once recognized as the world’s second fastest production car by the Guinness Book of World Records. click for more info!

6. SCC ULTIMATE AERO: 256 MPH

Shelby SuperCars (SSC) has nothing to do with Carroll Shelby of Cobra fame, but for a moment its Ultimate Aero was the fastest production car in the world. It reached a top speed of 256 mph back in 2007, beating the non-Super Sport version of the Veyron.

Helping it achieve that warm speed was a 6.3-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,287 hp. There are no electronic driver aids to help control that power either, creating a purer driving experience for those with talent. click for more info!

7. TESLA ROADSTER: 250MPH (UNVERIFIED)

The original Tesla Roadster was a sports car based on the Lotus Elise, and although its performance was certainly impressive, it’s more known for establishing Tesla as a legitimate player in the automotive world. The new Roadster is another thing altogether. This second-generation Roadster features the most impressive spec sheet of any EV before it — 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds, and a claimed top speed of 250 mph. In addition to the ridiculous acceleration and speed, Musk claims the Roadster will boast a range of 620 miles. click for more info!

8. SALEEN S7 TWIN TURBO: 248 MPH

Among performance addicts, the Saleen S7 is legend: exotic styling, insane performance, and tuning potential to name a few. But much of the vehicle’s appeal is actually historical. Produced from 2000 to 2009, the S7 was America’s first mid-engined supercar. Producing 750 hp, the vehicle could hit 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds before smashing the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. Its most stunning statistic is its top speed of 248 mph, making it one of the fastest cars ever put to pavement. click for more info!

9. KOENIGSEGG CCR: 242 MPH

Swedish supercar builder Koenigsegg briefly held the “world’s fastest” title. Its CCR reached 242 mph at Italy’s Nardo Ring in 2005. Despite its impressive stats, the CCR’s moment in the spotlight was as brief as its claim on the world. It was soon supplanted by the CCX, and then by the current Agera. Koenigsegg says the Agera-based One:1 will top out at over 270 mph, but no one has tried it yet. click for more info!

10. MCLAREN F1: 241 MPH

The Mclaren F1 is more than just a former world’s-fastest car. With its carbon-fiber body, gold-lined engine bay, 6.1-liter BMW M V12, and center driver’s seat, it just might be the coolest car ever made.

Years before it attempted to take on Ferrari and Porsche with the MP4-12C, McLaren was known only as a successful race team in Formula 1 and the defunct Can-Am series. Yet its first road car wasn’t exactly an amateur effort. The F1 went on to a fairly successful racing career in its own right, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.

Fairy Meadows Road (Pakistan)

12279163

The Fairy Meadows Road is only for people who love to drive in the mountains and have nerves of steel. Open only during the summer months, this rocky, gravelly road is about 16 kilometers long. A six-mile stretch of it is particularly hazardous. The road was built hundreds of years ago by villagers on Nanga Parbat Mountain and has not been repaired over the decades.

Only wide enough for one jeep at a time and having no guardrails, the road is terrifyingly unstable in places. One false move by a driver could send a vehicle down a vertical cliff for hundreds of meters. This road is so frightening, it’s hard to watch videos of people driving over it. If your bucket list has this one on it, make sure it’s your last challenge!

5 dress styles that will never go out of fashion

5 dress styles that will never go out of fashion

10th August 2018

When it comes to dresses that stand the test of time, there are a fair few.

Even dresses in 2018 tap into or take elements from these iconic looks and adapt them for the current trends. A dress is perfect for everything from bossing it at work to first dates to everything in between. Here, we’ve got the lowdown on five dress stylesthat never go out of fashion, when you could wear them and how to style them.

1. The summer maxi

maxi dress isn’t just for summer. Dabble in prints, different cuts and thigh high slits depending on the occasion. Maxi dress styles are ideal for everyday looks but look incredible dressed up with wedge sandals or heels for the evening.

How does a maxi dress fit?

Traditionally, a maxi dress sits snug to the body until the waist then flares out with a looser skirt. When it comes to length, these dress styles can be floor skimming or sit on the ankle depending on your preference.  Cami strap maxis or racer backs are popular choices for a holiday, chilling in the hotel bar – while a bardot maxi shows a little more skin and is perfect for nights out.

What is a bardot dress?

This off the shoulder dress style sits lower on your arms and exposes your collarbone, usually with an elasticated hem that sits across the chest and back. It’s a great choice when you’re looking for a maxi for a summer wedding or an evening out.

How to make a maxi dress work for the evening

It’s easy to take a basic maxi and dress it up for a special occasion. Here are some tips and tricks to styling up this longer length dress.

  1. Accessorise – Don’t be afraid to pull out the longer chain necklaces to hang low on your chest or embrace bangles for a stunning addition to bare arms.
  2. Look for slits – A cheeky slit will turn heads and gives your maxi a party all-night vibe.
  3. Swap your bag for a clutch – A handheld clutch is usually reserved for weekend nights out. Pick one up in a clashing colour for a standout finish.
  4. Embrace heels – Heeled shoes instantly dress up any look. Go for wedge sandals in the summer or strappy, stiletto heels for a prom or wedding.
  5. Add a bold lip – Keep mascara minimal and choose a strong red or a hot pink for a bold lip that serves looks all night.

2. The skater

Skater Dress Style from Superdry

We’re not talking Avril Lavigne, skater girl style here. Although there’s definitely nothing wrong with embracing that if it’s your vibe. Skater dresses are actually the perfect everyday, throw on and go look that can be mixed and matched with pieces already in your wardrobe. It’s a dress cut that’s always flattering, so won’t ever go out of style.

What is a skater dress?

Skater dresses were actually inspired by figure skaters, who traditionally wear a fitted dress on top and a flared skirt on the bottom. They’re a cute, girly look for your everyday outfits – perfect for pairing with heels for nights out or trainers and sports socks for a casual vibe.

How does a skater dress fit?

Skater dresses sit snug on top – and can be short or long sleeved – then feature a circle skirt that drops from the waist. These dresses usually sit shorter – great if you want to get your legs out.

Skater dresses for everyday looks

When it comes to wearing these dress styles on a day-to-day basis, look for a plain colour that you can accessorise with to nail your vibe. A cami skater dress looks great on everyone, with slim straps and a fitted bodice – perfect with sports trainers and a leather jacket for trips into town or lunch with mates.

You could also get fancy with an oversized, crisp white shirt, worn over the dress and tied in the middle to create a lightweight jacket. Pair with sunnies, low top sneakers and a cute cross body bag and you’re ready.

Flocked Velvet Skater Dress

This dress style looks incredible with heels – as legs look longer and you can make things a little smarter with a blazer or lightweight jacket. A velvet material or lace bodice adds interest to this simple dress style – and if it’s not a wedding, go for black.

3. The dress shirt

Shirt dress style by Superdry

Shirt dresses can be super formal, with collars and button up looks, or real casual with oversized t-shirt fits. Both offer a slouchy fit that flatters all shapes and sizes, with a whole world of prints and colours to choose from. A dress shirt will never go out of fashion – simply because shirts and t-shirts never will.

What is a dress shirt?

Dress shirts sit in two categories, collar and collarless. A style with a collar is essentially a longer length shirt, giving off that ‘just pulled on my boyfriend’s clothes and left the house’ sort of vibe. Collarless dress shirts are essentially an oversized t-shirt, usually worn with a pair of cheeky denim shorts underneath.

This type of shirt is great for days in the office – if your workplace embraces a smart casual dress code. Pair with black skinny jeans in cooler months or wear it on its own with cycling shorts and heels in the summer. We’re loving khaki, military style dress shirts featuring patches for a unique look – these look great with bare legs and ankle boots. Add a blazer to seal the deal.

T-shirt dresses are the ultimate lounge piece, offering complete freedom when it comes to movement. Wear one on its own or team with denim shorts and running trainers for easy, laid back vibes. Look for a bold print or a strong logo on a dress shirt that does all the hard work for you.

For winter months, a sweatshirt or jumper dress is a great alternative to your fave dress shirt style. Look for a hoodie inspired style for a cosy fit that you can wear all day. Pair with your fave trainers and if it’s really cold layer up with a leather jacket.

4. The bodycon

Strappy Stripe Midi Dress

Bodycon dresses can help you serve up a number of looks – whether you want to heat things up for a summer night out or keep things casual at the weekend. It’s an easy to dress to wear – whatever the occasion – and a truly timeless dress style. A fitted dress never goes out of fashion.

What is a bodycon dress?

Don’t think back to those bandage dresses we loved in the noughties. Bodycon dresses are all about rocking your own look, with a figure hugging fit that holds in all the right places. It’s the perfect, no effort party dress but you can pick up a basic colour to wear for everyday looks.

When to wear a bodycon dress

Bodycon dress styles are good for every occasion. It’s all about how you style one.

  • Wedding – Pair a floral print bodycon dress with strappy sandals and a lightweight blazer for wedding day style that looks great in the professional photos.
  • Night out – A slinky bodycon dress and towering heels make an impression wherever you end up with the girls.
  • Work – Embrace that smart/casual vibe and wear a striped bodycon dress with a fitted blazer and flat sandals.
  • Weekends – Throw an oversized hoodie, over a fitted bodycon dress. Choose a brighter colour for a look that turns heads on the high street.
  • First date – A fitted, mid length bodycon dress will have them booking in for a second date. Finish with a leather jacket for a tough vibe and to avoid having to take their jacket if you want to make a speedy exit at the end of the meal.

Bodycons are a strong party choice but also work for day-to-day outfits. Pair with a casual jacket – denim or an oversized windbreaker works – and finish with trainers. Add mesh socks for a quirky accent.

5. The midi

You can never go wrong with a midi dress – making it one of those dress styles that will never go out of fashion. It’s the perfect length for day or night and can be easily dressed up with heels and a clutch. We’re currently loving racer back styles with low trainers, for breezy looks that are easy to pull off.

What is a midi dress?

A midi dress sits on the knee – so your Mum won’t make any comments when you leave the house. It’s not quite mini, it’s not quite maxi.

How does a midi dress fit?

This depends entirely on the style you choose. These dresses can be fitted or have more of an A-line cut, that sits snug on the hips and flares out at the skirt.

What is an A-line dress?

A-line dresses are super flattering cuts that hug the hips and then flare out at the sides to create an A shape. They’re more common in skirt designs but you might spot some midi dresses in this style.

11 SUMMER FASHION TIPS THAT WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE

SUMMER LOVIN’

Summer is my second favorite season when it comes to clothing, gotta love summer fashion. (My favorite season is fall in case you were wondering. I LOVE fall outfits!) I love summer colors, the breeziness of the fabrics, and the freedom to walk past my coat closet for at least 3 months of the year.

You’ll find a lot of style blogs that talk about the latest trends, what’s hot now, what’s no longer in style, and what’s now “in” and what’s out. Since I’m not big on trends, or on purchasing clothing that has an expiration date, I want to share with you 11 summer fashion tips that will never go out of style. Think classic style, not trends. These style tips will work year after year.

11 SUMMER FASHION TIPS

LIGHT COLORS ARE BETTER THAN DARK

Not only will lighter colors keep you cooler (black absorbs more heat), but they also have a better summer vibe. I mean you could wear dark colors such as black, charcoal, violet, or dark blue, but it doesn’t have that light airy feel that is synonymous with summer.

NATURAL MAKEUP IS BEST

If you ask me, nothing is worse than wearing a ton of makeup on a hot summer day. Light and natural makeup is the way to go during the summer season. Put away the heavy black eyeliner, dark shadows, heavy foundation, and dark lipstick. Instead wear pretty neutral eyeshadows, tinted moisturizers and nude, pink, or rose stains and tinted balms.

As for foundation, unless you’re going to a summer event, wear a tinted moisturizer. To add that gorgeous summer glow add a touch of liquid highlighter to your summer makeup routine. Just dab a bit of highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of your nose.

FLOWY TOPS, DRESSES & SKIRTS ARE BETTER THAN FORM-FITTING

The summer calls for light fabrics that float in the wind. To give off the summer lovin’ vibe, opt for flowy clothing instead of anything that is skin tight. Find clothing made in light cotton, silk, chiffon, lace or crochet. This applies to everything: dresses, skirts, tops, rompers, and even shorts.

I advise this for two reasons. First, summer is hot and wearing clothing that is very form fitting will make you and your clothes sweaty. Secondly, flowy clothing and summer go hand in hand.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOPS AND DRESSES ARE ALWAYS SEXY

Every couple of years off-the-shoulder clothing becomes popular. All the stores have them in stock and everyone is wearing them. But off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are stylish every summer. Don’t think of them as trendy or disposable, because they really are a fashion staple that you can wear every year.

I have a few off-the-shoulder dresses that I pull out every summer and I’m always adding new ones to my wardrobe. They are great pieces for achieving that easy summer style.

IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HANDBAG, GO WITH A NEUTRAL BROWN

If you’re only going to invest in one handbag for summer go with a neutral earth-tone brown. Look for a summer handbag that is not that structured and that you’ll want to wear over many summers.

This summer I’m wearing the handbag in this outfit post. It’s my summer go-to bag, goes with every summer outfit I own, and I know I’ll wear it again next summer.

AVIATORS ARE AWESOME

Looking for the perfect pair of summer sunnies but don’t want to buy something that will go out of style by the time Labor Day comes around? If your face shape allows it, buy a pair of aviators.

They have always been in style and will always be stylish. The shape is timeless and looks good on both men and women. I bought the blue aviators I’m wearing in this outfit post in January and have been wearing them all the time.

HATS ARE A GOOD IDEA

Everyone should own a hat! If you don’t own one it’s probably because you haven’t found the perfect one for you! They not only make a stylish summer statement but they also protect your face from the harmful sun rays.

I love wide brim straw fedora and rancher-style hats. Those look best on me and offer the best sun coverage other than beach hats. If you don’t know what type of hat looks best on you, take a trip to a local hat shop (also called a milliner) and have the shop owner help you out. It pays to go to a hat expert that knows what styles look best on different people.

TOO HOT? BRAID YOUR HAIR OR WEAR IT IN A BUN

Beach waves are sexy and stylish but if you don’t have the time or can’t get your hair to have that perfect beach curl, then braid it or wear it in a bun. I wear my hair in a braid, ponytail, or bun throughout summer, and the summer outfit that I choose will determine which of three hairstyles I’ll wear. (Since my hair is on the longer side it’s usually too hot to wear it down.)

For some reason the idea of styling my hair during the summer is unappealing. A braid will always be stylish in summer, whether the trends call for it or not.

YOU CAN WEAR CHINOS EVERY YEAR

Women’s chino shorts come in a variety of colors, lengths, and are not just reserved for boat trips or resort weekends. Chino’s are a great alternative to denim shorts and they are extremely comfortable. The chinos I’m wearing in this post are from J.Crew. I love chinos from J.Crew because they come in solids or print, and in 3, 4, 5, or 7-inch inseams.

This summer fashion staple is a piece that you can keep in your closet because you can wear it every year.

WEAR JEWELRY IN EARTH TONES

Put away your large statement jewelry in dark or jewel tones, summer fashion calls for jewelry in earth tones. Look for bracelets, necklaces, and earrings in blues, gold, turquoise, pink, brown, green or even brightly patterned cotton bracelets.

In the summertime, I like to wear a ton of bracelets and keep my earrings and necklace simple. Usually, my necklace is a dainty, thin gold initial necklace, and my earrings are gold studs.

The neutral colors will match more, if not all, of your summer outfits because of the overall light feel of your summer clothing.

OWN AT LEAST ONE STRIPED SHIRT

striped shirt is the perfect summer piece. Its nautical vibe and classic style makes it easy to style in a variety of summer outfits.

If you only own one striped shirt, opt for the classic boat neck, three-quarter sleeve shirt in white and dark blue. The stripes are not too thick and are horizontal, of course.

You can pair a striped shirt with practically anything: shorts, skirts, pants, denim or otherwise.

I hope these summer fashion tips have helped you realize that you don’t have to be trendy to be stylish!

Stay Stylish,
